Ice dispenser motors give up every year or two. Gone through several at this point. Something else possibly contributing to this problem or are the Whirlpool ice bin in door units problematic?

Hi, dicktrickle88.

The ice dispenser motor that you are replacing is not the most dependable part in you refrigerator, but every ear or two is a bit excessive. You should check if the ice in the bin is not melting once-in-awhile due to the temperature increase in the freezer during defrost or because the ice chute door sticks open. That may cause the short in the motor windings.
