Whirlpool ET1FTTXKQ02. It is making a load clucking sound when it turns on and off. It is pretty load. I can hear it 30ft away down the hall. It is cooling like it should but it makes the noise when it cycles on and off around 3 or 4 times an hour. I thought it might be the starter relay. Would it be that load. I can hear it over the tv 15ft away. Had repair man out and of course no noise. He got it to turn off and on with the temp control and plugging and unplugging it but it did not make the noise. Said he did not want to start replacing parts since he did not know the problem. He has been a repair man for 30 years. He ended up just vacuuming out the back while he had it out. Of course after he left it started making the noise again.

The unit uses a PTC start device so it will not be the relay.

A;lso I would not assume that it is the compressor. You will have to pull the unit away from the wall and confirm that it is the compressor.
Replacing a compressor is an expensive repair and often it makes more sense to put the dollars towards a new unit.
Also check the warranty on the unit the sealed system often has a longer warranty.
