The refrigerator has been unplugged in storage for the past year. Now it will not cool or freeze at all. Fans are working and compressor is very hot. I tested the compressor with my multimeter, readings were 3.4 ohms and 8.7 ohms, I did get 12.1 ohms reading across both top terminals. The relay did not rattle so I pulled it apart and it doesn't look broken (but I really don't know what exactly to look for) Any ideas? Thank you!

As a last resort try giving the compressor a smack with a rubber malet. Could be it is seized. |

Well I installed the new start dev and the refrigerator still is not cooling! I talked to a local repair shop and they told me it sounded like there is a leak. Is it possible all the freon has leaked out? Please help! I really hate to have to buy another refrigerator

You said that the compressor is hot. Check to see if it is vibrating. It should be if the compressor is working.
If the compressor is working and the unit is not cooling then it is a sealed system problem. It does not matter what the actual cause is. It will be an expensive repair. |
