For some time now, our fridge has been making a "click" sound when it tries to start up. After doing that for a few times, about a minute apart, it will run. Temperatures are normal. Today, I went to get some cat food and found it frozen. A thermometer showed that both the fridge and freezer were running at about 5 degrees lower than settings. I unplugged it for an hour and then plugged it back in. After a minute or so, it sounded like the blower was running and then, I'm assuming, it tried to start up and then came that "click" like a relay sound. It finally came on. (the old put your ear to the side of it). Am thinking it's not shutting off when it gets to the set temperature. The clock sound sounds like it's coming from behind the fridge, not on top.Fan runs all the time.

Hello Morry. You need to check and see if the clicking noise is coming from the main control board in the back of the unit. If so, then you will need to replace the main board on the unit. It also controls the temp based on the readings of the thermistors inside the unit. Part number: AP4450225

The full model number of our fridge is LSC27931ST. Been trying to see what is happening. The "click" sound is coming from a module fastened to the compressor (large round black unit). I happened to have the fridge door opened when it did it once and the light inside the fridge blinked. Drawing some abnormal current. That said, given that I can vary the temperature settings up and down and the unit responds but the fan always runs, I feel also that it may be the control board. The control board on our unit is on top under a cover. Easy to get at. Can you give me a price for a control board and advise if I can return the new board if that isn't the problem.

Just saw the post giving the part number and price.

If the clicking is from t he relay overload, it will not likely be the board. That leads to a bad compressor on the unit if it eventually starts. The start device for this model is no longer available. Part number: AP4684176

We made a call to Lg as the cooling system is still under warranty. First tech that came ordered a whole new cooling system, coil, compressor, cable assemblies and thermister, etc. That arrived yesterday and another tech showed up to install. First thing he did (he heard the clicking sound) was to replace the overload protect thermister assembly on the side of the compressor. Plugged it in and it started up quiet and ran fine. We had moved all our food out to a "spare" refrigerator in the garage so the LG was empty. Left it running all night. Before going to bed we noticed that both the fridge and the freezer had temperatures below the settings made by the tech. I got up at 5:00 this morning and it was off but the temps are below the settings. The fridge, for example was at 30 degrees and the setting was at 37. The freezer has a similar number below the zero setting. Again, there is nothing in either unit. Should we be concerned? Our concern is prompted by the compressor which for some time had that click and we're worried it might fail. Again, the first tech was going to swap out the compressor but the second tech did not.

If the new start relay started the compressor, it should be fine. However, if it stops again, I would suggest to them to replace the compressor assembly.
