Kenmore/Whirlpool top loader, lid lock clicking

Hello, I'm trying to help a poor single mother out. I replaced the lid lock switch after doing an ohm test, the new one still clicks and lid lock light blinks on and off, after 6 clicks the lid lock light is solid but start/ pause button just flashes and wont start. I pulled the codes and got f5-e1, f2-e1,and f5-e3, the tech sheet says to replace the control board. I was hoping someone has experienced this before and could confirm this should fix it. She doesn't much money and I don't want throw parts at it. Thank you in advance, Sincerely, DRP

First of all kudos for trying to help someone in need. Those of us who respond on this site are also volunteers and we always like to hear a story like yours.
These models are very difficult to diagnose, even for Whirlpool techs (well especially for Whirlpool techs who often just start replacing parts until they get it working)
So try replacing the control unit, and if you buy from this site you can return the part if it does not fix things (a policy which makes us happy to try and help).
