So I have a whirlpool dryer that I am getting frusterated with that will not heat. All of thermostats, etc connected to the heating element test out and will work(verified by jumping). The timer appears to test out, and the switch for the heating controls is brand new. there is one resistor in the plug that dosent appear to be removeable that looks like it could have burned out as there is a burn by it. what does that effect and would there be any way to replace it and if so how. Any other suggestions on what to look at?

First, make sure you have 240vac to the dryer. Reset the AC panel breaker. Sometimes one half of the breaker can trip without tripping the whole thing. If you have 240vac to the dryer and the thermal cutoff, operating thermostat and hi limit thermostat are good, then check the heating element. Should have around 10 to 12 ohms across the terminals. If all good, it's most likely the timer. The type of timer used on this machine is a piece of junk and they fail OFTEN. The resistors on the back of the temp switch plug are for selecting the low heat settings. If one was bad, it would not prevent the dryer from heating, it may cause a problem with a heat setting other than high.
