I can't seem to get our Kenmore top mount refer/freezer to stop freezing up the freezer drain line. Here is a list of what I have done so far.....
1. unplugged and thawed out unit. 2. ran a wire through the drain line. 3. poured hot water through drain line. 4. blew compressed air through drain line. 5. replaced defrost heating element. 6. installed drain defrost strap kit.
After about a week or so, the drain is frozen again. The only other thing that I can say is that there seems to be a bend in the line about 4 - 5 inches below the opening, and this is where it starts to freeze up. The defrost strap kit only goes down 1 - 2 inches into the line, so it can't reach the bottom of the ice plug. The drain line is inaccessible and can't be replaced as far as I know. Any suggestions??????? Thank you.

Same boat. I even put a thermal contact pad to make sure it was conducting to the strap. But the pad may be junk. It was a Samsung fridge. Gonna try some twisty ties around the strap to get it tight.
