The dryer is drum is running fine, but the heating element does not stay on long enough to dry the clothes. I ran the dryer with door opened and observe the heating element coming for a short period of time, then shuts down! Where should start looking, I am pretty handy with mechanical/electrical issues. Please let me know!;)

The heating element is supposed to cycle on and off, not stay on continuously. That's how the dryer maintains the proper temperature. Need to check the temperature of the air coming out the exhaust at the rear of the dryer. In high temp, it should be around 140-150 degrees and you should have good strong air flow. If air flow is good but temp is too low, possible problems include a failing timer, faulty operating thermostat, the heating element may have a break in it that only opens up once it gets hot...etc.

I did watch the heating element, and it cycle very quickly on and off even when the dryer has been cold for a while. The air coming out the exhaust is barely warm and blowing strong. I ordered the hi temp thermostat switch. I will try that and see what happens, seems to be a common fault in dryers as they get older. Thanks for your advice!

got it fixed. one of the porcelain stand offs that keeps the element off the housing apparently was missing. the coil had fused to the housing and burnt out. replaced it and got a new standoff and its fixed. thanks for the video. not so hard when someone shows you how to do it. thanks again
