In the auto mode or timer mode, dryer fails to shut off. The dial gets stuck after 20 minutes left on the timer mode and less to cool down cycle on the auto mode. This is also an intermittent problem but becoming more permanent with more use. Would replacing it with a new timer fix this issue or is it more complicated? The dryer is only 18 months old. Thanks

Thanks Eric. Made a purchase for a timer and it arrived the very next day on ground shipping. Wow! Is the timer you recommended better quality than what was in the original dryer or should I expect to change these timer often? Thanks,

It's the same type of timer. Nothing much you can do about that. If you bought it from APP, you have a one year warranty. These timers are used on low end models.

Yes, I purchased from APP. Good to know about the year warranty. It's a little frustrating about my Amana washer & dryer combo. This is my first new W/D purchase and it seems I got the wrong models. I was looking for no thrills basic models that will last a long time. Any recommendations for basic W/D that is well built with quality parts? When I say basic, no computers, no fancy settings, no upgrades, but just a good old dial turn W/D. Or does something like that exist anymore.

Speed Queen. The only decent models left that I would recommend. Quality built in the U.S., good warranty, great customer service. They still have models with mechanical controls. Expensive, but worth it. Around $800 for the washer and $700 for the dryer.
