Hi, today we were running a load of laundry and my wife noticed that the machine had stopped. We opened it to find that it was full of water and had stopped in the middle of the cycle. We tried different cycles with not much response and it had a loud grinding type noise when it did try to agitate or spin. We eventually got one of the spin cycles to work (with the terrible noise) but I just wanted to get the water drained to make it a little easier to work with. We got all of the water to drain but it is still making a terrible noise if we get it to spin at all but if we go back to our usual wash settings that washer won't start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hard to say but if it fills and drains it may be that the coupling is broken and making the noise.

Here is the part and there is a video on how to open it up and check things out.
