Hi, I have a ~10 years frigidaire plht219tcb0 fridge... within the last week, the fridge start making fast ticking noises , i think it come from the freezer section... the noise come every about 1/2 an hour for around 10 min then goes away.. whenever the noise is there the fridge is not cooling...

previously I just simply unplug the power for couple hours, then plug it back and it would start to cool again... but after couple hours the issue came back again...

After doing the unplug/plug trick for couple days, now the noise are gone... but the fridge is not cooling anymore even after I unplugged it for couple hours... i still can hear the fan running though , I feel some wind in the freezer but not cool wind...

Would anyone be able to help trouble shoot this ? what do you guys think went wrong.. I am debating if I should call the repair guy to fix it, do it my self fix if the issue is simple or just buy a new one....

Here are your parts, includes a wiring diagram.

Is the compressor running?
You can usually hear it but also should be able to feel it vibrating.

Is the condenser/compressor fan running?

If it is then the compressor should also be running as they are wired in parallel.

Hi, so the compressor is not running....but both the condenser and evaporator fan are running... I did a resistance check on the 3 terminal on the compressor and I am getting a normal reading ( around ~10 , ~6 and ~4 Ohm).... so with this it means my compressor is Ok right ?

I also did check the resistance on the relay connector and I am getting a reading of the ~6.5 Ohm from the bottom to holes... does it mean that my relay is also OK ?

What do you suggest I should check next to find the root cause and how to check it ?

Here is a copy of the tech sheet.
It has a better diagram as to how the compressor is hooked up.
Second page on the left side is a separate box.

No, the compressor may have mechanical problems.

does it mean that my relay is also OK ?[/COLOR]
Again No

Check the red to the light blue. It should be 120 volts.
If not then there is a wiring problem.
If OK then you could try replacing the start device. There uis no good way to do a live check.

ended up replacing the relay with the new one.... my compressor is purring again....

But the noise that was there originally before the compressor stop working is back....

I can be sure the compressor is working as it feels warm to touch... but it keep making the noise... please see the video...around 00:19

Seems like the noise is from compressor but I am not certain... Do you guys know what sound is this ? and what should I diagnose next ?

I am not sure what is going on.

It sounds to me like it is the compressor trying to start.

But you say that the compressor is already on so I do not know what is happening.
