I am afraid to try dryer after installing new electronic control board, for fear it may be ruined and unable to be returned.

Background: Vent to wall became loose, fixed it and cleand around and under dryer--never suspected lint built-up inside. Month later, dryer died. Opened it up and found some scorched lint. Tested all the small parts I could for continuity and replaced the high limit thermal fuse and the thermistor. No change. Did diagnostic test on User Interface. One light was green - Clothes Dry. **IS THIS EVEN AN ERROR?** (I'm under the assumption all lights should be red.) After reading many threads, I looked at the electronic control board and it was charred at the Motor. Ordered and replaced control board today. Did diagnostic test and the same light, Clothes Dry, is green -all others red.

I am afraid to try turning the dryer on for fear I will ruin the Electronic Control Board again. If the motor itself is bad, will it cause the electronic board to blow or is it probably safe to try the dryer out?

Please advise, my laundry is now about 3' H x 4' W. My husband is not a happy camper!:(
