Hello. I have a Jenn Air oven, JER8885QAS and over time, most of the buttons on the control panel have stopped working. The last button we were able to use to set oven temp has finally quit so we are now totally stuck. The replacement panel is no longer available and I can't seem to find a replacement for the part. A year ago I tried replacing the control panel (clock) and it didn't fix the issue. I need the front panel itself 5701M662-60. I can't find it available anywhere. Am I completely stuck? All other functions of the range work great, so it's pretty disappointing. I'd hate to have to buy a brand new one. Any advice is very appreciated.

Here are your parts Parts for Jenn-Air JER8885QAS Range - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the tech sheet. It shows the pinouts from the control panel so may be useful of what to look at. Sorry but it does sound like the control panel is toast. You could try the following. Connector Cleaning / Checking Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. You could also check the ribbon cable/s for hairline cracks running across the tracks. These tracks are repairable but it is s finicky repair to say the least. |

Thank you so much for the advice. I will try and pull the back off of the unit this weekend and see if I can find any problems with the ribbon and clean up the connections as best I can. Fingers crossed. I hate to throw away a perfectly good oven, otherwise. Is this the type of task that a professional repair man could do? In your best estimation, how much do you think it would cost for a professional?

Is this the type of task that a professional repair man could do? Depends on the repair man. My background is heavy into electronics. It is just a delicate job. First you have to find the cracked trail/s. Then scrape off the plastic coating on one side of the cable using either a exacto knife or scalpel. Make sure to get to nice clean copper on both sides of the crack. Then you need some liquid conductor basically this is a glue with copper particles in it. It is used to repair rear window defrost track. on cars. There are also kits with it used to repair keys on remotes etc. Then you just bridge the crack. With luck the crack is on an area where the track/cable is straight so you can tape the repaired area to a peice of cardboard etc so it cannot flex. If on a bend it get a little more complicated as you have to prevent and flexing at the repair point.
