Ice maker trouble. The alum. nipple that comes through the back of freezer section becomes "clogged" with ice after about ten cycles of ice being made. I thought there was a problem with the solenoid water valve in back so I replaced it. The ice maker unit was replaced last summer because the original one started leaking. The replacement unit was an "aftermarket" style.
On the aluminum nipple I did notice a device that I am assuming is a heating unit of some kind to keep the water from freezing up inside the tube.....am I right ? If I am right I would believe that it has stopped workin correctly.. ANY HELP ??

After some hunting I did find the part (item 266 in section 08)
Looks like it comes as part of a harness and not as a separate item.
AppliancePartsPros does not have a picture of it.
I tried linking a picture of it but it was blocked by the site so just Google the GE part number (WR23X10257) and you should be able to find a picture.

I do not have access to GE tech data so cannot be helpful.

All I can suggest is that you measure it with a meter.
I do not know what the resistance should be but it should have some resistance.
If infinite ohms then I would replace it.
Be sure to unplug the harness when measuring it just to be sure you are not measuring something else that is wired in parallel with it.

One thing I would check is the freezer temperature.
It should be between 0 and 5 degrees F.
If it is too cold it can cause problems.
