I noticed in the past week that the water flow coming from the water dispenser of my refrigerator has been decreasing. So I checked the house water pressure and it is 45 psi. Next step was to change the filter, (Filter has been installed about 2 months) after I removed the old filter I checked the water pressure from the dispenser and it was back to normal. My frig is designed so you can remove the filter and continue using it without any adapters. When I went to install the new filter, (Whirlpool #4396710) I noticed water seeping out of the top hole where the filter plugs in. I have never seen this before. What made me look was that you could here the water hissing as it was coming out. I went ahead and pushed the the new filter in and the pressure came out normal for a second or two then went back to a trickle as before but now maybe a little worse. If you wait a few seconds and check the water the pressure it is good for a second then slowly goes to a trickle. I have read where others have posted problems similar, but it appears mine is a little different with water coming out after the filter is removed. Looking for help. Thanks

Fixed, I ended up replacing the water filter housing. What has happen over time was that calcium was building up on the valves internals of the filter housing. This caused the problem of leaking water when the filter was removed and caused the low flow problem. When the filter was installed, the valve was in a mid position because of the calcium buildup. This caused the reduced flow. I tried blowing air through the old housing and it helped some, but the damage was done. Hope this helps the next person. One lesson I learned was to remove the 2 screws that hold the valves in the back so you can pull the filter housing out far enough to remove the 2 lines. None of the tutorials you tube videos suggested doing this. Experience is something you get right after you need it.
