My mother has a wall oven/microwave combination model 306bwh2 which is 20 years old. The self cleaning recently quit working. As there is no lock on the door when it is in self cleaning mode, I'm wondering if the problem is a sensor or switch of some sort and if so how involved is it to fix

Could be one of the switches on the door lock mechanism is not closing. I do not recommend going into the control section in the unit unless you have some electrical experience. On many older units disconnecting power from the unit does not discharge the microwave power capacitor and this hold lethal voltage levels. |
