I recently moved my Kenmore 22 for use as my shop/garage fridge. It was a short moved and remained upright the entire time (moved it about 50 ft) It was working fine for about a week after moving it, but now the freezer side has quit freezing. The fridge side still works great, but the ice and other items in the freezer are starting to defrost.
When I try to adjust the freezer temperature setting, turning the dial either direction I never hear the compressor kick on or off. However, the compressor will kick on and off when I move the fridge side temperature control.
Also if it matters, it just recently got very cold here the last couple days, and when I'm not in my shop it gets pretty cold in there, with temps probably around 30-40 degrees F.
Hoping I can find some ideas on what the problem could be, and that it wouldn't be too costly to repair.

Your problem may well be due to the ambient temperature. After a defrost the unit will not turn the compressor on because the unit/fresh food section has not warmed up due to the cold outside temperature. When this happens the heat generated by the defrost stays in the freezer and melts it's contents. The problem is more common in top mount units. See the attachment.
