I'm in the process of replacing the thrust bearing. The video was very helpful! However, I can't install the proper thickness washer, thus the brake isn't dissengaging correctly. There is enough room for the thin (.032) washer, but not the .062 (which is what was used when I dissassembled it. Is there any trick to extend the length of the shaft? (like someone pushing on the tub from the other side?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

You can file an angle on the ends of one side of the clip to make it easier to get it started and also use a small screwdriver into the groove for the clip and pry down on the shaft while getting the clip started.

Thanks to your advice, i finally got the c clip on. Now, when i start a wash cycle, water enters the tub, and when it is supposed to start agitating, it just buzzes for about for seconds, wiats about 15 seconds, buzzes again. Then we can smell an odor, probably from the motor. It acts as though the brake won't release fro the tub to move. I don't know what else to do.

The brake does not release nor does the tub move during agitation cycle. With machine tilted back, looking at bottom of center pulley, rotate pulley CW, should cause agitator to go back and forth, rotate pulley CCW, should release brake and cause transmission and tub to rotate.

Tilted it back. I can rotate the pully CCW (and my wife confirmed that the drum was rotating), but the pully will not rotate CW at all.

Try it with belt removed to make sure it's not the drain pump jamming things up. If it still won't work, remove the agitator to make sure nothing is under there jamming it. If not, then you have a faulty transmission.

Thanks for all of your help Eric! In my case, it is the transmission. I've researched the cost and we'll be getting a new unit.
