Hello Gene,

The freezer works fine. The refrigerator doesn't work. This is the french door model. Model# 596.73503201.

I noticed the back of the freezer was froozen and the Vert Mullion Assy was very hot to the touch. I called the Sears parts/help and they indicated the Vert Mullion Assy should be replaced. That was a four day $144 waste of time.

I got on line and did some checking. I opened the back of the freezer and checked the thermostat, and heater coil -both checked okay. Thinking it was the Adaptor Defrost Board - i ordered it from your site. That didn't fix the problem.

I thought the evaporative fan might not be working and opened it up to check. When i touched the fan it started moving and appears to be working although not very fast. Is it connected to the damper contol circuit via some demand signal? How do i check if the damper control is bad or if the evaporative fan motor is not working properly? Or is there some other area i should check?

Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide.

Very Best,
Dan

If the evaporator fan motor has 115 volts stamped on it, plug it in the wall outlet. If still not up to speed, order a new one on this site.

So how do i plug the motor into a wall outlet and how do i know what is "up to speed"? Is this a variable speed motor based on input from the damper contol? Could the damper control be bad? In addition, will you please explain how to take the plastic assembly off so i can access the damper control unit. I don't want to force it and don't see any obvious releases or detents.
Thanks,
Dan

Use an old lamp cord to plug the motor in. The damper housing ends in the freezer. Probably need to pound it out from the freezer side.
