I've got a really quick question about top load high efficiency washing machines. While I am happy to hear input from anybody, I am mostly interested in hearing from repair professionals with specific knowledge of the issue.....

Can the use of non-HE detergent cause any damage to a top load HE machine, specifically to the tub seals?

(We've had tub bearings to get noisy in two different Whirlpool Cabrio machines in four years. I just discovered this week that we've been using the wrong detergent in these machines all this time. I am trying to determine if there is a problem with the design/parts on these machines, or if the failures are my fault.)

Thanks.
