http://appliancejunk.com...wnloads;sa=view;down=259Try to find out where in the unit the racket is coming from.
Often this is not possible.
The most common cause of squeaking on these unist is the rear drum support bearing.
Unplug the unit.
Remove the small cover on the back that lets you get at the back of the bearing.
Remove the clip that holds the ball bearing in place, remove the ball bearing.
Be careful when doing this as the ball bearing like to jump out and then play hide and seek which can waste a lot of time trying to find it.
Now pit a couple drops of oil into the bearing.
Just a couple do not go crazy with it.
If the squeaking now stops or changes then the bearing is a likely culprit.
The above is just a diagnostic not a fix.
Note that if the oil does not do anything it does not maen that the bearing is OK could just be that the oil did not get deep enough into the bearing.
To fix it you will have to take the unit apart.
Check the bearing assembly for wear.
If worr replace it.
If OK clean out the old grease and re-grease it.
Be sure to use high temperature grease.
Other possible causes are:
The idler wheel. A cleaning and drop of oil may fix this. Again just a drop is enough.
The motor bearings. The normal long term fix for this is to replace the motor.
The front drum support glide. Check it for wear and replace if necessary. Do not use oil here.
ince you will have to take the unit apart this is a good time to check all parts re: belt, seals etc. and replace if necessary.
It is a good time to give the interior a good cleaning including the blower wheel.
Also a good time to clean/check your vent system.
