Frigidaire Stackable Lid Switch Bypass no spin cycle

The lid switch on my stackable unit broke. This was causing the unit to not work in any manner (which I guess is the point). I took off the front panel and connected the two wires coming out of the switch. This caused the washer to fill and aggitate, but it does not spin/drain or rinse. I there something I am missing? I don't see how this would prevent the spin cycle from starting.
I know this is not the best option for fixing the problem, but I live in a third world country and it is the only option available to me at the moment. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
