after a multitude of problems with this $2500 piece of junk it is now completely malfunctional. When attempting to use the appliance many of the touch controls are non-responsive. the display lights up but the keypad only works on about half the characters. The first time this happened the display prompted me to remove the oven probe, which was not in (and had broke after about 10 uses). Anyways i powered the unit down, and then re-powered it which seemed to clear the problem. Now the unit powers up but the keypad has only limited use. Any idea whether this is the control pad...part # W10206070 or the computer part #8507P232-60. Seems relatively easy to replace the part, I'm just not sure which one to order

Here are your parts Parts for Jenn-Air JDS9860BDB Range - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the wiring diagram Below is a manual that should help. You will have to join the site and be logged in to be able to download it. http://appliancejunk.com...&id=438;t=1411635770The usual way to troubleshoot these problems is to check the control panel/keypad with a meter. If it checks OK then replace the control board. Still a bit of a crap shoot but your odds are better. You may also want to try the below. Connector Cleaning / Checking Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. |
