This is a whirlpool dishwasher model series GU 1200, model XTKBO, serial no. FM1434496
When a wash mode is selected as "quick wash" when the button is pressed the cycle starts then after a minute everything stops and the light over the Hi Temp scour light blinks but every thing shuts down. I have had recent problems with the machine shutting down before pumping down and draining. Is there a drain switch that could fail and cause this? the drain float seems to be free.

Here are your parts
Parts for Whirlpool GU1200XTKB0 Dishwasher - AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

The first thing I would try is removing power from the unit for several minutes.
This should reset the computer in the unit just in case it is confused.

Next go through the tech sheet.
Perhaps try running diagnostics.
There is a possibility that it is a stuck key. To check this out you need a meter so you can check the keypad/control panel. See the tech sheet.

No

This is not a drain sensor.
It is a safety device that opens if the unit overfills for somereason and it kills power to the water valve.

I cut the power off as suggested. No change. Tried to run diagnostic code... no response. Pushed normal wash nothing. Returned to kitchen 3 hours later to find the beast running, it finished the cycle and shut off. It is sitting once again unresponsive with the hot scour light on. I've not found anything toasted on the circuit broad.

Sounds more like a control board problem than a control panel (keypad) problem.
Still best to check the keypad with a meter
