We have an upright Frigidaire freezer, purchased 8 years ago...its not working properly...please HELP!!! A couple weeks ago, we noticed that the food was starting to thaw in the freezer. We moved things around on the shelves, thinking it was because there wasn't enough air flow. The food froze again. A few days later, we noticed the food started to thaw again. We took some food out altogether and the food froze again. Then a couple days later the food completely thawed. We had to remove all the food. The freezer wasn't even cold. Someone told us it might be the temperature control thermostat, so we ordered the part and replaced it. Still nothing. The compressor is hot when you touch it. There is a fan blowing warm air through the inside vents. We checked the coils located in the inside behind the removable panel...and they are not frozen over. The light does come on when the door is opened. Any ideas what might be going on with the freezer? Thank you for any suggestions or help!!!

Here are your parts Parts for Frigidaire FFU20FC4CW0 Freezer - AppliancePartsPros.comHere is the tech sheet http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...df/StCloud/216857700.pdfYou have to determine if the compressor is actually on when there is no cooling. You can usually hear it but also should be able to feel it vibrating. If it is on and you get no cooling then the compressor is probably toast. If it is not on then it could be the start device (fan must be on). Note that the compressor should be on whenever the freezer fan is on. This is weird one as moving the food seems to get it running again. Makes me think that there may be a bad connection somewhere and just giving the unit a slight nudge fixes it. Unplug the unit and remove the start device from the compressor and check the pins etc for cleanliness and connection. If the fan is off when the problem occurs but comes on when you start moving the food then it could be the defrost timer. |
