I have a Maytag dryer model MGDB800VQ0 which was converted within the last year to operate on propane as opposed to natural gas. A little over a month ago the dryer stopped heating, so I went through all of the diagnostics and found that the Thermal fuse (8573713) was open (no continuity) I replaced the fuse, and just because I didn't want to take the dryer apart again, replaced the High limit Thermostat (3391912) also. Well, here it is a month later and the dryer stops heating again, and again I trace the problem down to the Thermal fuse. Now, after the first repair, I did have problem where the dryer was heating, but not sufficiently and that problem was found to be due to insufficient air flow (Crimped vent line). After correcting the air flow problem, the dryer was working fine. So, at this point, I'm assuming that operating the dryer with the restricted airflow stressed the new thermal fuse and resulted in the premature failure, but I want to know if anyone else has any experience with this type of repeated failure, and specifically I'd like to know if the conversion to propane could have anything to do with it.

The conversion shouldn't have anything to do with it. Restricted air flow due to blockages or leaks is what usually causes the thermal fuse to blow.

Ok, so now I'm getting mad. The dryer is not heating again. No flame, can't see any glow of the igniter. I have not taken it apart again to test it, but I'm assuming the thermal fuse is shot again. The air flow seems to be as good if not better than it has ever been, so I'm at a loss. I'm not anxious to just go and buy a new dryer without understanding what the problem is with this one. could the control board or other sensors (such as the moisture sensor) have something to do with the repeated failure? The dryer was showing signs that maybe the moisture sensor was faulty because when it was drying it signaled the end of cycle when the clothes were still just slightly damp.
