If it "slap" the front control panel it will begin cooling again. for ~day and then stop again I changed the defrost timer and that did not fix the problem Is the thermostat the next thing or is there something else

It is not uncommon for them to stick open. Click on the picture for more info on the part. Part number: AP3037004
