I got this fridge from a friend about a month ago. For the first week or so it made ice great. Then it suddenly stopped. Upon examination, I learned that it is not turning off unless I actually turn the fridge and freezer knobs to the off position. I set the fridge to number 1 (the warmest setting) and let the temp adjust. I then go turn it off and immediately turn it back on. I would think it would turn on at 1.5 or 2 since it should not be any colder. It will not turn on until it gets to the coldest setting it has (6). This indicates that it the settings are not regulating the temperature. Could this have anything to do with the ice maker not making ice? Also, I took the ice/water filter off and noticed small amounts of ice in it. Could the fridge be getting so cold that it is freezing the water line before it can make ice? How can I check this? Thanks!

the temperatures are both ok. And I also learned that they are shutting off but it still seems the thermostats may be off..neither here nor there. So I began disconnecting some hoses and such hoping to see where the flow stopped. The hose that runs water from the house to the fridge stops flow immediately after hooking into the fridge. It appears that the water should go into the inlet, through one hose to the filter, return through another hose from the filter, then split and go through 2 separate hoses (1 for the water and 1 for the ice).Does this sound correct? If yes, I am unable to get any water to come out of the initial inlet hose.
