Having problems, broil element comes on when on bake. I replaced the bake element previously ( got part from you), code F10 on the display.

I just pulled the bake element out to test for continuity, as I was pulling it out the right side "leg" was sparking when I hit it against the inside of the oven. Power was off but not unplugged.

I unplugged the oven and continued to remove the bake element.

Bake element has continuity.

Does this mean the control panel needs to be replaced ( and the overlay)?

Thanks.

I am not sure what your problem is.
On most unit the broil element does come on when in preheat and bake.
The unit switches back and forth between the bake and broil elements. This gives a quicker preheat and also gives a more even temperature profile in the oven when in bake.

I am not sure why you replaced the bake element for a F10 error.
F10 comes up as a Temperature Run Away error so replacing the bake element should not have anything to do with it unless the element has grounded out and is always on.

What is the problem/symptoms?

Does the unit stay in preheat or does it show that it is ready?

If it is that the bake element never comes on then odds are that it is a control board problem. This assumes that the unit stays in preheat.

Sorry was not more clear, I meant I previously replaced the bake element when it had tested bad.

The problem this time is the bake element does not come on when on bake, but the broil element comes on and stays on even after the pre heat light goes out. The code "F10" does not display constantly , my wife saw it on once when she was trying to cook the other day.

I tested the bake element last
Night and it had continuity,

Thanks

Here are your parts
Parts for Frigidaire FEF352FWB Range - AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is a better copy of the wiring diagram

And here is a link to a manual which may help.
You will have to join the site and be logged in to be able to download the manual.

F10 is a runaway temperature.

I am assuming that when in bake the unit stays in preheat and never comes ready.

If it does show it is ready check the oven sensor.

If it stays in preheat odds are that the control board is bad.
I would check the wires from the control board to the oven elements.
Be suer to unplug the unit when doing this.

Hello,

The unit does show it has reached temp, (Pre-heat light goes out).

Do you have a link on how to test the oven sensor?

Thanks

Yes, I would check it just to be sure it is OK.

It does sound like it is heating up and reaching set point temperature just using the broil element. But it never hurts checking it as it is a lot less dollars than a control board.

Here is a site with info about them, take a look at 7, 8, 20 and 21.

My wife just told me about a week ago when using the broil setting the broil element wouldn't come on either but the bake element was on, I guess it's the same when baking or broiling that both elements are supposed to come on at first to bring the temp up quicker than the appropriate one will go off. Going to test the oven sensor now.

Just tested the sensor, looks like it is fine, got just under 1100 ohms at room temp, stuck the probe under hot running water and checked the temp with a thermometer, water temp got up to aprox. 115 degrees and ohm reading went up to aprox 1147.

Re-installed sensor, removed top panel covering control module, wiggled bake and broil element wire, tapped on the relays, and wiggled the main plug in connector, reassembled, plugged in oven.

Turned on bake at 350 degrees, bottom bake element is heating up, possibly a relay was stuck or wiggling the wires did something. Will see what happens when pre heat indicator goes off.

If oven again gives F10 code or bake or broil element does not come on when it's supposed to, would you say it is the clock/timer that most likely is bad?

Thanks for your help, that one schematic you linked to was in a bag on the rear of my oven and also provides the ohm readings for certain temps for the oven sensor.

Let the oven sit for about an hour, tried bake again and it worked fine, shut it off and tried broil it also worked fine.

Will keep an eye on it, if it happens again or the code comes up I guess I will be ordering the clock/timer and overlay.

Thanks for the help.
