Here we go again. Looking through several repair forums I haven't found quite the same issue. I little background first. Bought this house 15years ago, appliances came with it (smart seller). Replaced upper board, short time later the wax motor and upper board again. Then bottom board. Still not right then updated the motor and board. Replaced tub bearing last year and now another issue. Wife calls me upstairs, water running out front door. Not what I was hoping to be called upstairs for:-( Here's where I'm at, when washer is started the hot water runs and will not stop. If I pull the hot water terminal off the soliniod the water will completely stop (valve fine). Although when testing voltage at the soliniods cold is 110v and the hot is about 95v, odd. Water temp switch set for cold/cold. Wife told me that she had to repeatedly press the start button to get the machine to run. Is this the board again or possibly the water temp switch?

This model is probably a strong candidate for the worst machine ever made. In human years it is 150 years old. It should have failed years ago. I strongly suggest you have a short congratulatory ceremoney for getting some many years out of it and then cease spending time with it and replace it. A basic top loader will be fine if you don't need a front loader.

Yes I understand this is the unit that put Maytag under. If I keep it going it may be a collector item one day and I might be able to recoup some of my costs lol. Problem is that when this machine does it works, it works well. Plus I have replaced all the know bad components with the updated versions. So if this is a simple repair, meaning low $, then I move forward with repair. If not I guess it's back to the river with a shrub board for now.
To review, Wife had to push start button a few times to start washer then when it ran the hot water ran constantly even though it was set for cold/cold. When I pulled the connector from the hot water solenoid it shut off completely. It's safe to assume that the valve is fine. I thought maybe I could just shut off the hot water and continue to use it but the machine only starts for a few seconds and shuts down. I tried three times with same result. Any thoughts????????????????????

Okay, if it were just the temp selection on the water level I would say replace one of those switches but since it is both try replacing the main control unit.

If you buy from this site and that does not fix things you can return it. And if that does not fix it think hard and long about a replacement machine. If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. After that, give it up.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
