My son's dryer was taking a long time to dry clothes. I thought the heating element might be bad but haven't had it checked. a day or so later his dryer quit all together. I replaced the thermal fuse and high limit switch replaced the vent hose and vacuumed out the dryer hose and blower. This fixed it I thought but now it will only run a short time and cuts off and will not start for a few minutes till it cools off. any suggestions for a fix?

Here are your parts. Parts for Maytag PYE3300AYW Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comSounds like the motor is over heating. This then trips it's internal thermal protect and you then have to wait for it to cool down so the protect resets. Try turning the drum in. the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily. If not then it may be putting too much load on the motor. Does it also do this in air only mode? This should eliminate the heater as part of the problem if it does. Make sure that there is no heat on air only. Check the connections/wiring at the motor. Often this problem requires a motor replacement. |
