So my GE Eterna side by side suddenly quit cooling several days ago.
Here is a list in chronological order of what I have done so far:
1. Pulled interior freezer panel, and inspected evap. coil. No ice, no frost.
2. Evap. fan is running. Compressor is running.
3. Thoroughly cleaned condenser. Condenser fan is running.
4. Replaced motherboard.
5. Pulled start relay and overload from compressor, checked compressor with ohmmeter. Tested good voltages at all poles.
6. Replaced start relay and overload with SUPCO 3-in-one. Not sure what to do with extra white wire that was connected to one side of original start relay. Used orange wire and taped white wire off.
7. Still blowing room temp air in freezer compartment, no frost or ice on coils. Compressor is running.
8. Still no joy. All fans running, but blowing 67 degree air in freezer.
Have tried unplugging, waiting one minute, and restarting. Will not cool off, even after overnight wait.
9. Contemplated killing something. Beer was warm.
10. What's next? Thinking defrost thermostat or temp. sensor.
HELP, please!

Are you sure that the compressor is running?
You can usually hear it but also should be able to feel it vibrating.

If the compressor is running and no frost is developing on the evaporator/freezer coils or there is frost in just one area (usually where the freon enters the coils) then it is a sealed system problem.
This will be an expensive repair as you need a pro.

I am not sure why you have replaced any parts as at the start of your post you said that the compressor was running.

Yes, I'm sure the compressor is running. Can hear it start, and feel it running. I checked the three poles on the compressor with an ohmmeter, and got good readings.
I also just pulled the defrost heater, and it checks good also.
I picked up a defrost thermostat, and a thermistor (they were cheap enough), and plan to install them to see if this helps.
Are you saying I've either got a Freon leak, or a compressor that even though it is running, is not cooling?

Yes
If the compressor runs there should be cooling at the evaporator coils.
If not there is either no freon or the compressor is not working even though the motor in the compressor is on.

The defrost thermostat will do nothing for this problem as all it does is shut off the defrost heater after all the ice/frost has melted off the evaporator coils.

The thermistor also will not help. The electronics already are reading the thermistor correctly. In other words the unit knows that it is too warm and therefore has turned the compressor on trying to lower the temperature.

From everything you list it sounds like a sealed system problem to me.

Well, shoot. I've got one more thing to change.....when I initially pulled the freezer compartment rear panel off, I noticed what looked like a green ground wire had come loose, but from where, I did not know. I clipped it to the evap coil.
Now I see from photos that it is supposed to be clipped to the steel back panel itself.
If the evap is aluminum, which it appears to be, perhaps a proper ground on the steel rear panel will solve the problem.

Sorry to say it but you are grasping at straws.

The evaporator coil is already grounded.
Even if it did not touch the units frame the metal coils and tubing would ground it back through the compressor.

You are probably right, but you know, if there's any way I can save myself the cost of a new fridge, I gotta try.

By the way, there was an orange and white wire coming off the terminals on the original start relay.
There is also one black wire coming from the overload.

The SUPCO only has TWO wires (other than the three wires, red, black, and white for the compressor poles.)

Can you tell me the proper wiring for the orange wire and the white wire to the SUPCO starter? Thanks a lot!
