I bought a brand new dryer and electrical cord. My receptacle is a 3 prong plug 220. I plug in, I have power, I set the dryer to the settings I want, and when I hi the button to start the cycle the dryer shuts off. The breaker on the panel box does not trip when this happens and you can turn the dryer back on and do the same proces as above but the same thing happens. What is the problem?

Did you have to install the line cord?

If yes, did you follow the directions in the install sheet.
New dryers are usually set up for 4 wire hook up so a ground strap has to be added/connected for it to hook up to 3 wire.
