Hi all, I have a ge hydrowave washing machine that is exactly 1 year old and is used regularly for my wife and daughter. In the last 2 months I have noticed a slight knocking during the spin cycle. After doing my research I have eliminated the shifter coil assembly from being broken and am wondering if the shifter coil can simply make a knocking noise as it turns. When I look at the machine without the front panel on it, I have noticed that the knocking noise happens at the exact same rate of speed as the large belt pulley spins. Sometimes I can replicate the noise by spinning the drum by hand but it always knocks when it is in the spin cycle. I have also eliminated the long rods and shock absorbers. It is very hard to pinpoint the location but it seems like it is coming from the center where the shifter assembly is. Thanks for any help you can provide.

The shifter should not move or make noise. I can only suggest that you contact GE and try to get them to honor the warranty if it is just a few days or a few weeks out of warranty.
