Hello,
I have a Jenn-air range that came with the house when I bought it 4 years ago. Last year, the front panel stopped working, and I had a local repair shop replace it.

Last week, the oven stopped working - the burners work, the front control panel works, but the downdraft fan and the oven heating elements are permanently at room temperature.

I've been told that it's probably a partial failure of the relay board. I've also been told that if I repair it, the new relay board will produce a slightly higher amperage, which will burn out other parts faster.

That sounds reasonable, but the guy who looked at it works for a company that sells jenn-air ranges, so I'm not sure if he's maybe exaggerating a bit to get me to buy a new one instead of repairing the one I have.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Here are your parts
Parts for JES9800CAB - AppliancePartsPros.com

You seem to be missing a digit or two at the end of the model number.
See the attached for the wiring diagram it is for the CAB17 unit.

It does sound like a control board problem as I do not think the oven elements and the blower are on the same circuit.
If it was just that the oven elements were not coming on then the double hi-limit cut off would be at the top of my list.

The control board is item 5 in section 02.
Clicking on the part description or picture will bring up a new page with additional info about that part.
There is not a separate relay board in this unit.

The above does not make sense to me.
It is not the board that determines the amperage but the part that the board is controlling. All the board does is close a relay to complete a circuit to the part.
