I just purchased the home and the frig and freezer are not getting cold. The control knobs are at the coldest settings for the frig and freezer and the temps remain about 40-42 in frig and 28-32 in freezer. Originally the evaporator fan made a horrible squeal while running so I replaced it. That did not help neither section cool down any. The condenser fan is running. The compressor is warm to touch (cannot leave hand on it for longer then 8 secs) and I can feel a slight vibration in there. I have removed the freezer inside back panel to examine the coils frost pattern and the only frost I see is on the defrost thermostat and maybe 2" section of pipe leading to the thermostat. Would the coils defrost in the time it took me to remove the back panel? The second time I removed it it only took maybe 10 mins to empty freezer and remove everything else. What should I troubleshoot next? Would the coils defrost that fast? Can this unit be saved? Please help, I really do not want to purchase a new frig if I don't have to.
This forum has helped me before, so lets keep the streak going.
Thanks in advance!
John

You have sealed system problems, too expensive to fix.
