Top part of the fridge (freezer) does not make ice and does not freeze stuff although cold air is entering inside the freezer. There is some frost build up on the back wall of the freezer.
Lower part of the fridge works OK.
What could be wrong? What parts can I try to change that might resolve the issue?
Thanks.

Here are your parts Parts for Kenmore Refrigerator 1069608784 - AppliancePartsPros.comIf you go to the Sears parts site they have part breakdown diagrams. Unfortunately they do not share these with other vendors. First check that the condenser/compressor fan and the evaporator/freezer fan are running. Check that the compressor is running. You can usually hear it but also should be able to feel it vibrating. Note that if they are all off you may be in a defrost cycle so will have to wait for about half an hour to see if they all come on. It would be a good idea to clean the condenser coils under the unit. If all OK you will have to remove the rear panel in the freezer so you can check the evaporator coils. From your post it sounds like you may have a defrost problem re: the coils will be clogged with frost and ice. Do not let them defrost as it is easier to diagnose the problem if they are frozen. |
