This is a double oven, both identical. The upper broiler element will not get hot. I took it out and checked for continuity, it had 21 ohms. I now that there is power to it, because I accidentally shorted the connector to the oven wall and got a real pop which tripped the breaker.
What should I do. I do not think that replacing the element will fix it.

I agree with you the element looks OK.
The arc and spark you had does not mean that the element is getting voltage.
One side of the element is usually connected to L2 then the circuit is through the element, then through the relay contacts and then to L1. This gives you the full 240 volts to run the element.
L2 is 120 volts compared to Neutral/frame on the stove that is why you got the flash.
You have to measure between the wires that attach to the element to see if there is 240 volts.
Be careful 240 volts is lethal!!! |
