I can't locate a replacement thermal fuse for the upper cabinet steamer heater on my Maytag Neptune drying center.

The upper cabinet was running too hot, then stopped heating completely. The thermistor had gone bad, and the thermal fuse blew. My husband replaced the thermistor and steamer heater thermostat, but the steamer heater thermal fuse apparently isn't available from Maytag.

The only thermal fuse Maytag has for this model comes in a kit with two thermostats for the lower dryer. I bought one of these kits hoping the fuse would work on either the upper and lower dryer, but upon installation in the upper dryer it blew immediately. It's a 300F fuse like the original, but has a different code and different appearance.

The upper cabinet has since been tested by temporarily bypassing the fuse, and works perfectly, with no overheating. The heating element and connections were inspected for potential shorts with none apparent.

The steamer heater thermal fuse is a button type, with the blades pointing up at 45 degree angles. The button is 5/8" and the total size including the mount is 1 1/4". The code stamped on the side:
L300F 300-899059-001 A0407 36F24 20139

Is is possible this fuse comes with the replacement steamer heater wiring harness? I called Maytag and they had no photo or description of what comes in the kit, so couldn't tell me.

Or is there some type of generic replacement I can use?

According to the Maytag technical bulletin the thermal fuse and hi-limit thermostat have been relocated. The thermal fuse kit included the hi-limit thermostat.

Here is the Service manual and the Tech sheet for your dryer.
