The dryer gets no power. My wife said that a piece of clothing go tcaught in the door and a small metal tab broke off. I looked at it and thought "I'll get to it later and threw it away. Now I can't find where it broke off from and don't even know what it was.

Sounds like it was the actuator for the door switch hence no power now because the unit thinks the door is open.
