Problem with Defrost heater

Well i've an issue that is happening a few months ago, i contacted the support on GE, but the problem keeps until today.


I've a GE Refrigerator, that keeps burning my Defrost Heater, once in a while that the refrigerator burns it, i've to replace to it, in order to get the refrigerator working again, if i dont, it will keep frozing on the back side.

This is my model of "Defrost Heater".

This is attached in the frost left side of my fridge, right at the bottom, with one screw each side

I dont know if i should try another to test another piece, maybe the fridge is overvolting the heater and causes this, but i dont know where to begin with.

I've bought around 6 or 7 pieces so far, and keeps burning them, now they got expensive, and i cant afford to keep buying them.

Looks like they may have changed this heaters design.

It cannot overvolt the heater. Your fridge runs off of 120 volts and that is the voltage used to power the defrost heater.

These glass heaters are know to have problems.

Here are your parts
Your model number is incomplete so you will have to find the correct unit in Matching Model Numbers section.

I would replace the thermistor (Item 241 in section 03) and the defrost thermostat (Item 240 in section 03).

I cannot say what is blowing the heater but the above two are involved with regulating how long the heater stays on.

If this does not solve the problem then you probably need a new control board.

FYI Below is a manual which explains how GE does defrost.
