Recently, most of the loads of laundry have started getting these black spots which I thought was caused by disintegrating rubber hoses. Wrong...it seems as though oil from the transmission is leaking, at least based on some google searches.
Question is whether I would need to replace the whole thing or just the seal under the agitator? Any ideas?
Thanks

I do not think the problem is a bad tranny. Most likely the problem is a bad basket drive (#1 on the diagram). It has a seal inside which probably is broken. This part is not repairable and has to be replaced. It comes as an assembly, including the clutch and brakes, so you'll have three major parts new. Here is the Service manual. - The basket drive assembly Part number: AP3094539
