I have a kenmore dryer model #41788042700 that i just bought used for some guy 2 days ago and i have a couple problems with it that idk what is wrong or how to go about fixing it without spending hundreds of dollars on parts and maintenance people coming to fix it so im trying to see if these kind of sites help me fix them. So listed down here is what is going on any ideas help. Thanks!
1. I start my dryer and it does fine it gets hot the drum turns fine and eveything. The problem is that after a while sometimes the dryer will start beeping and flashing the lights. It dont do it all the time just every now and then. I read it could be a fault code? Idk how to figure that out. Is there a way to like reset the dryer?? 2. Sometimes the dryer will shut off while drying and turn itself back on and continue but like i said it only does it sometimes. But if you actually hit the button to shut it off it wont come on until you hit the button to turn it on. Any ideas?? Thinking controll pannel might need replaced. 3. Last but not least if you have the dryer on and you touch the top front right hand corner of the dryer and you dont touch any of the buttons at all it will change the setting on the dryer fron drying to cool down... any ideas??
Like i said trying to fix on my own without having to have a maintenance guy come out and spending an arm and leg. If it ends up costing to much ill cut my losses and trash it but ill see what gets thought up here first. I have read you can reset them but cant find out how.

Here are your parts Parts for Kenmore Dryer 41788042700 - AppliancePartsPros.comIf you go to the Sears parts site they have actual part breakdown diagrams which includes a wiring diagram but it is not very legible. Unfortunately they do not share these with other parts vendors. So you have to find the part at sears and then use that part number to search in AppliancePartsPros as many of the parts here have a Q&A section that can be helpful. Below is a manual which ay come in handy. http://appliancejunk.com...wnloads;sa=view;down=260You will have to join the site and be logged in to be able to download the manual. Te site also has info on other Frigidaire units that may have also have some useful info. Your unit is actually a Frigidaire. Since the fault is intermittent it is going to be a pain. Your last symptom is a real puzzler. Do you know if this unit was ever changed from a 3 to 4 wire line cord or vice versa. Perhaps the Neutral and ground connections where not done correctly. In 3 wire the Neutral and ground are the same so the line cord is hooked up as follows. Red to red at the terminal strip in the unit. Black to black. White to white (usually the center connector). Then there is a ground strap that goes from this connector to the unit's frame/case. In 4 wire the Neutral and ground are separate so the hook up is Red to red Black to black White to white but the ground strap is disconnected from the frame. Green to the place where the ground strap was connected to the frame. |
