In the midst of washing a rug (which had been washed before succesfully) the machine stopped with the control panel still locked. After much playing around with the kick panel (why do I have to take off the kick panel every time I need to pop the door and then replace it to close that safety switch to run a test?) and diagnostic test, I've come up with the following:

after pushing 1,2,3 to enter the diagnostic mode,
there was a 'LF' that I cleared in the system - we ran it last week accidentally with the valve turned off after replacing some piping, so that was no big deal.

I then push 2 to enter the self-test mode. The LED displays '1'. I push 2 again, and the LED displays '5'. I push 2 again, the LED displays '0'. I push 2 again, and the door locks (and the LED goes out), I push 2 again, the cold water fills (and then stops). I push 2 again, and I see the drain pump go and the water empties out of the washer. However, no amount of me pushing 2 anymore will change anything else. There aren't any directions to this effect (additional pushing buttons) in the technote - part number W10252711A so I'm not sure what else I need to do to have it to the other parts of the self test.

If I try a normal cycle, the door locks, and then nothing else happens.

The continuity/resistance checking seems to indicate a problem with the 'Motor resistance test', that came back at infinity. The pump motor as well as the inlet valve were ok. I could not find the tachometer pins - they're listed as '4' and '5' and I don't see anything like that on the diagram. So I guess I'm tending towards motor/MCU, but I'd really like a self test to run correctly to give me another data point. Thanks.

So I opened the back panel and pulled out the motor. There are pins 1,2,3 as well as 4,5 there. 1,2,3 all have the correct resistance between them as well as 4,5. My previous tests were just at the top wiring harness next to the control board. I'm not really sure where to go next...?
