Maytag LDE412 dryer was burning wire that goes from the heating element to the high limit switch. Replaced wire and it happened again. Last night I replaced wire and flipped on the breaker and the element starts heating up with the dryer off. I assume the heating element is staying on and burning the wire. What would cause the heating element to stay on?

Here are your parts Parts for Maytag LDE412 Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comCould be that you have a grounded element. Unplug the unit and both wires at the heating element. Measure the heating element. They are usually between 8 and 12 ohms. Now measure from each side of the element to the ground/frame/Neutral, both should be infinite ohms. If not the heater is grounded causing it to be on all the time. |
