GE dryer heats OK in timed mode but takes a long time to dry, timer does advance. A load of towels will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Replaced timer because on automatic sometimes it would just spin without heat, other times heat would be OK. Always OK on timed dry but took a long time to dry.
With the new timer, heating seems to be OK but the timer doesn't move in any of the auto cycles. It moves OK in timed mode but haven't checked how long it takes to dry a load.
-Heating element continuity OK, 0 ohms -Timer replaced with new one -Cyclic thermostat on blower housing measures 8K ohms between small tabs, 0 between large (wires disconnected) -Heated cyclic thermostat on the stove, it stops conducting at 140 degrees, cools off, closes again. -Timer resistor measures 4300 ohms with wires disconnected from resistor. -Buzzer wasn't working with old timer, seems to be working with new one but sporadically. Buzzes OK with 120 VAC applied -Checked for blockage in blower housing and exhaust to outside.
I suspect the cyclic thermostat but it's measuring OK. Could it be faulty anyway? What else is there to check?

There are 2 heater coils, inner and outer. Each should read 19.2 ohms, and they should read open (infinity) to ground. Operating thermostat must cycle on/off in order for timer to advance in auto dry.

There are 2 coils with two connections on the left side but they are joined on the right. I haven't tested to ground but I am getting heat.
If I measure resistance from one end to the join (middle) will I still get 19.2?

Yes, or 38.4 between the two end connections.

The inner coil appeared to be intact, must have been touching / arcing sometimes, making it appear the timer was bad. I took the resistance readings and the outer coil was fine but I was totally surprised to see 0 on the inner coil. I started touching various spots and the 2nd place I touched the coil parted.
