Hello smarter than me appliance people!

I have a bottom freezer Kenmore refrigerator with an automatic icemaker. Recently my ice has been tasting weird and I think its because this unit does not come with a water filter at all.

So I bought an in-line water filter for the icemaker; however I don't know where to install it. There is an existing 1/4 plastic tube that runs from the water valve (where water is entering) to what I think is the icemaker.

Do I install the in-line water filter using the existing 1/4 plastic tubing? In other words - does this tubing supply water to the icemaker?

Any advice will help! Please don't hesitate to ask questions. Summer is coming and I really like my ice!

For reference, I tried to upload the manual for this unit; however, it did not help me...

If you install it between the water valve and the fridge you will filter both the ice and water.
