Recently my dryer started running forever when in auto mode. The dial never progresses. Clothes dry within about 45 minutes to an hour, but I have to remember to stop it myself. Timed dry works (meaning the dial progresses), however, it seems to take a lot longer. I'll set it to 70 minutes, but the clothes are still damp and I'll need to run it for another 30. Poking around online makes it sound like an issue with the moisture sensor. But I'm having a tough time locating this sensor. Part of my problem is that I don't know exactly what model I have. I know it's a GE, but after that I'm stumped. I can't find it in any of the typical locations. I have the manual, which narrows it down to any one of the following: DBLR333, DBSR453, DBXR463, DHDSR45, DHDSR46, DJXR433, DLLSR33, DLSR483, DRSR483, DQSR483, DS4500, DVLR223, DWSR483, DWXR483, DX2300, DX4500, DZSR483, EED4500, EGD4500 The screenshot attached isn't the moisture sensor is it? I wouldn't think it was, but it does look similar to things I've seen on the web. BTW, I made sure the duct is clean. Thanks in advance! nmilot attached the following image(s):

That's where the moisture sensing bars go but I don't see any bars. Can't really help you without the model number. Might be a bad timer as heating should be the same regardless of timed dry or auto dry. The only difference is the way the timer motor is powered.

Thanks for the reply. Knowing nothing about moisture sensing bars, is it possible the bars fell out? I will look again for the model number tonight. Everything I read on the web states that the model number should be staring me in the face when I open the dryer door. Not sure how I'm missing it!

Not likely since they have wires attached to them. It may be that your model does not use them. Need the model number.
