Hello, I just had my 2 month old Frigidaire FGHS2655PF Side-by-Side just repaired. Would like to know the theory of operation for the failure.

Failure- Freezer failed with display showing anywhere from 4 degrees to 34 degrees throughout the day jumping around. Temperature verified accurate at any of these displays. Fridge temp was at 36 degrees and was fine.

Service tech came out, replaced control board (underneath) and front panel user interface. No change. Came out again and replaced compressor and condenser fan. Problem solved. He said the fan was running a
'little' slow.

Here is what I would like to know. When the repair was complete the freezer temp started coming down perfectly, about 1 degree per 4 mins. Cycled down to 0 degrees and is fine. During this time and even now, I open the freezer door and I can hear a fan running and airflow. During the time of the failure I never heard a fan running or felt air flow.

What fan am I hearing and what air flow do I still feel? Is this the evaporator fan? Because if it was, this was not on during the failure or the replacement of the first two parts. How does the condenser/fan cycle the evaporator fan? I assume this is the fan which distributes the air flow throughout the freezer and fridge section.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like I found my own answer. Just wanted to know when the compressor came on the condenser fan and the evaporator fan came on at the same time... yes.

Also found out this.

If your freezer temps are fluctuating between 10-30 degrees at different times of the day/week as displayed on the display panel or by means of a thermometer stuck inside the freezer and the refrigerator is maintaining proper temps, then suspect the condenser fan, and/or the thermistors inside the freezer and/or the main board.

This was exactly my issue. The condenser fan had to be the issue.
