I was mashing some potatoes on my GE Electric/Glasstop Range, with all the burners off [though some were warm], when the unit shot some sparks out the back and one of the elements stopped working entirely.
At this time, the hot-surface and Burner-On indicators were permanently illuminated, and will not shut off unless the oven is disconnected from the wall.
I did some searches, and thought it could have come from a broken Thermal Limiter on an Element, so I replaced the Element that was not working. I should note that everything else worked. However, upon replacing the element, I found that it was not actually shorted at all [the old one tested just fine].
So, I replaced the Infinite Control Switch, as the old one was shorted [tested it, the L2/H2 worked, but the L1/H1 and H1/P had no connection]. So, I replaced it, and the burner now works [turns red, heats up, yay!].... however, the Hot-Surface and Burner-On indicators remain permanently on.
Everything else appears to be working; all 4 burners now work, the clock and display screens work, and the oven works. However, the lights won't de-illuminate when the oven is plugged in. Does anyone have any notions as to what this could be? Or how I could resolve it short of purchasing an entirely new unit?
Many thanks, in advance!!

I hope this isn't rude, but since it's gotten a fair number of views, and been bumped to the second page.... well, I'm pushing it back up to the first page.
I didn't see any clear-and-obvious rules against this, and I don't intend it to be a frequent thing, but I figure it's more likely to be seen on the first page than the second ^.^;
